Aka a great place to people watch. Most of the time I miss the majority of the game due to watching those around me, my daughter or simply daydreaming. Perhaps our cheap seats don't help since the players look like ants😜 I mean......it's so much easier to watch those around us, see, even PC is watching some ecstatic fans go crazy--- I mean we were there the night that Scherzer tied the record with 20 K's! Also, let it be known that last Father's Day we were there for his no hitter! WOOT!<br />

However, despite how far we are, my husband enjoys it and I think PC does too. But maybe it is also because she eats the whole time she is there.<br />
<br />
**sidenote: ballpark food is <b>expensive</b>!! Thankfully we can bring in our own food and sealed bottled water. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The Nats ballpark is great though. It has a children's playground and plenty of area to roam/run if need be. Once when it was particularly cold out a nice gentleman let me into one of the lounges. See, kids do pay off, especially cute ones.<br />

It also happened to be free baseball bat/ball day! Oohhhh and because we were sitting behind the visiting teams bullpen we also got a ball.....well thanks to the nice man sitting next to me who shouted down, "Hey! Can we get a ball up here for the baby?!" LOL I'll take it....maybe next game we can get a Nats one....maybe even signed! GASP.....<br />

<br />
Another great thing about Sunday games is......Kids run the bases......the line was crazy long.....but, if you were like us who purchased Miss thang and MVP kids package she gets to cut the line! (We know for the future). Needless to say, she did not run the bases....does you see all those giant headed men out there? HA she was NOT going to step food on that field. But....I thought it was pretty cool to see the dugout up close and personal and touch the field!<br />
<br />
Until next time Nationals! Actually, we'll be back on Monday for our bobblehead.....and this time we are going to get it!Christyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13011702263743197943noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7155192392822283459.post-73407220239648891612016-05-09T11:33:00.000-07:002016-05-17T19:10:48.790-07:00Meals delivered to your door.....<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
Well....sort of....nowadays people can have virtually everything delivered to their door. If you live in the city....game over!!! I mean one hour Amazon delivery?! Faster than 2 days?! Yes, please!! Sadly in our Washington, D.C. Zip code it is still not available. I suppose that is for the better because do I honestly need those Christmas lights that fast, or a industrial strength stick backvelcro?! Probably not! I've received coupons for Mini Bar which guarantees any alcohol delivered to you in an hour. Am I that desperate?! You have snacks delivered, bark boxes for dogs, you name it and I am pretty sure you can have it delivered.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Those hard working families don't always have time to prepare meals, that is where all these meals on wheels programs come in. We have Galley which deliver hot meals. I am not rich enough to afford my own personal chef....and I also don't need meals prepared for me everyday. I am not that busy. So when someone offered me a code for a free week of Blue Apron meals I thought, why not? I mean free being the key word. I signed up and could choose which day of the week I wanted delivery. I could also choose which week I wanted my meals to start. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Blue Apron usually posts about 4 weeks worth of meals at a time so you can peruse. They also have you check meat options or if you are vegetarian. I checked no seafood(sadly the hubs is not a fan). </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The week that I chose came with the following 3 recipes: seared chicken with sautéed purple potatoes, kale and apple, zucchini and parmesan quiches with red leaf lettuce salad and pink lemon vinaigrette. The last item was grains of paradise-crusted steak with mashed plantain, collared greens and ginger peanuts. The nice thing is if you stay on top of your game you go into your account to view upcoming meals and skip those that you do not care for. We are on the 2 person plan which runs about 60$ for three meals. Twenty dollars for a meal isn't awful, but it also isn't the cheapest. Our dietary plan is omnivore. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
When the box arrived I hurriedly opened it and found......<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
The recipes for all three meals, as well as a little blurb about the apples and what wine to choose- kinda disappointed that the wine wasn't included....haha</div>

<br /></div>
<div>
I ended up making two of the three meals while my husband ended up making the seared chicken dish. I will say that some require a lot more prep than others.<br />
<b>*Note:</b> make sure to read through all the directions. Sometimes there are ways to cut corners. For example the quiche called for me to cook the spinach, zucchini and garlic separately- too many steps in my mind. So...I cooked zucchini with garlic first and then added in the spinach(which I had already chopped-Blue Aprons directions say to cut after sautéing). <br />
<br />
I didn't take pictures of all the meal preps, but I did do the steak one.....</div>

The steak was tender, even my husband who was wary of the mashed plantains ate all his helping and helped himself to more!! WIN! I think next time I would use less ginger, it seemed to be a little too much compared to everything else. </div>

<b><span style="font-size: large;">Finished Quiche</span></b><br />
One quiche for the two of us was enough. Thus allowing us another night of quiche. It was delicious! There wasn't as much cheese as I usually put in my quiches (perhaps for the better). The recipe had me split the 3 tablespoons of shaved Parmesan cheese. Instead I added it all to the quiches. 😊</div>

The problem is, we shouldn't have them in the house and buying a whole box of cookies means eat them, or they go stale. You see the problem here. So we try and limit the cookie buying/making and brownie making to when guests come over(which is almost never). If we go out, chances are, if they have a good dessert, I will get it! Creme brûlée forget it- <b>GAME OVER!</b> The thing about getting a dessert when you are out is that chances are it won't make it home, or if it does there usually isn't 1)enough to share 2) enough for more than one night thankfully!<br />
<br />
However, as I was cruising around pinterest the other day(or just this morning) I stumbled across someone mentioning this "mug cake" idea....so I pinterested that baby and so many things popped up and I of course had to repin many of them to my pinterest. <br />
I mean....don't y'all have these ingredients laying around? Oops forgot to include the cocoa powder....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I present to you my Chocolate Mug Cake- no milk, butter, or eggs...it's pretty ingenious and they are all ingredients I have lying around at all times (because I do love to bake!). The best part....other than the easiness is that it is a single serving! <b>WIN!</b><br />
<i>Next time I will mix the ingredients in a separate container- doing it all in the mug allowed less clean up, but I still wasn't able to mix everything and so therefore, there was still some unmixed flour in the bottom. </i><br />

I added some semisweet chocolate chips that I had, I did feel that this cake was missing something. The chocolate chips helped, but I wasn't able to finish it- maybe whipped cream? Maybe some Nutella or caramel? </div>

I also made <a href="http://www.fivehearthome.com/2015/01/15/snickerdoodle-mug-cake/">Snickerdoodle Mug Cake</a>- not on the same night and this one I finished- maybe it was because it wasn't overly chocolatey? Christyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13011702263743197943noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7155192392822283459.post-33346259179146556482015-04-17T19:36:00.000-07:002015-04-17T19:38:25.902-07:00Running Adventures with PC over Spring Break! The last few days of my Spring break have been gorgeous! Sunny, warm, maybe a little too warm, but I'll take it. I even got a little burned today-ooops....sorry skin!<br />
<br />
On Wednesday I started out with PC on our normal run around the trail by our house. Usually we do an out and back, but today I decided to loop it. As I passed the cemetery near our house I decided why not run through. I always see people walking around in there and it's also the dog park. People pay and then are able to let their dogs run in the huge area.....I'm not sure how I feel about people letting their dogs pee and poop where loved ones rest.....<br />
<br />
In through the squeaky gate we ran. There were plenty of paths/roads what-have-you. It was actually a little hilly too. It was quiet- no big surprise there, but I mean for being in the city. We ran past some mausoleums that needed to have their leaves swept out and many a worn tombstone. It was kind of sad, some have been there so long that you can't even read what they said. We didn't run around the whole thing, as I was little tired and also didn't know how much longer PC would be content. I had given her a munch cup full of mix and raisins that she was happily munching on. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It is a little weird running amongst the graves, but peaceful too (ha! It should be!)<br />
<br />
Thursday- another BEAUTIFUL day. I decided to head over to the <a href="http://www.usna.usda.gov/">National Arboretum </a>. It's ridiculously close and yet G and I have only been once many years ago. We stuck to the roads, we didn't venture off onto any paths to explore - for the next adventure. The trees were beautiful. We didn't see all the areas of the Arboretum, it was also hillier than I expected- to be honest I didn't know what to expect. So I huffed and puffed a long, but running hills should help me when I run on flat ground.<br />

In case you can't tell, the picture above is of us running up a hill. :-)</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
What's a run without a selfie by some beautiful trees. I actually had enough room on my phone to snap off a few to send to the hubs while he was at work (sometimes I feel a little bad sending him pictures of all the fun things we are doing while he is a slave to the man....but he did ask for pictures, so pictures I will give- so long as I have room on my phone). This picture doesn't really capture the beauty of the trees, nor is PC looking at the camera. You would think with a mama who is so camera happy that she would learn to look straight at it and smile- knowing that I will do my best to get that "perfect picture." </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This picture is a little better, at least she is looking at the camera....the magnolias were gorgeous. I wish they stuck around a little longer, that and the cherry blossoms. My goal was to run down to the mall over break, but that looks like it might not happen. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After we finished "our" run I let lil miss thang out of her stroller to troll around. She needed to get out some of her energy. </div>

I was a little worried that these sweet gum balls would hurt her- but it's important to let her explore. She had no problem with them, even sat down quite hard on some (it probably helps that she has a nice padded diaper on). </div>

She then decided to check out this Grass display that they had. They were displaying all the different types of grasses that you can find- PC decided that she wanted to "read" each of the signs. Ha I was impressed that she knew that there was writing on the posts- or maybe she just wanted to do a few squats.....<br />

I wish I was better......my problem stems from the fact that I like to post blogs with pictures. Some people read blogs just to read, but I like the visuals too- it's helpful and I get ideas (which can be dangerous too). I also have a tendency to get jealous then of other people's lives, such as <a href="http://www.lovetaza.com/">LoveTaza</a>, especially when she goes to amazing exotic places (Ok, Hawaii, but I've never been!). <br />
<br />
<a href="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41ua5HiV45L._SX425_.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41ua5HiV45L._SX425_.jpg" height="200" width="187" /></a>At Christmas I received a new camera- YAY, but the pictures don't automatically load up to my computer, it requires several steps lol, ok, so it isn't thhhhat bad, but it takes a little longer than uploading from my iPhone. <br />
<br />
This brings me to my dilemma.....I still have an iPhone 4s. It's fine and does what it needs to, except that I have NO MORE ROOM! When PC was born it was game over. The pictures and videos took over and I am scared to delete them, even after uploading to snapfish. I even load them onto a flash drive. I am slightly obsessed I mean they are my baby's first year- each and every "boring" moment that I captured. I've started emailing myself videos and also loading them onto Vimeo. <br />
<br />
So....because I refuse to delete tons of videos and A LOT of pictures I rarely have room to take pictures of the daily occurrences. I am trying to do better because she's doing a WHOLE lot more now and I just can't capture the moments :-( I don't understand the cloud- how do I access it?<br />
<br />

A few weeks ago I was making something, lunch, dinner, snack, what have you and left the fridge open. Then came the pitter patter of little feet. Lil Miss PC padded over to the fridge and because I am always curious to see what she'll do (they are quite curious) I left the door open. Yes, our door is full of glass containers, but they are pretty sturdy and she's pretty close to the ground. She's actually handled glass before and is pretty careful. She's the little girl who will go to grab her water bottle, but if it feels too heavy will use both hands instead of swinging it down, or pulling it onto the floor. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Well, she immediately started pulling items out of the door and......then took them over and put them on our step stool- another huge play item for her (simple things right?!). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhO2m5LcVjr8pFOCnsHldNywATOo08752ewqVEiXdHhialyhBU6KTnJDBFcV_ZTJB7-8iXSYoQWG_CNcHyDUoto48EKSUI8wVh6YFNtr9pIr49oe7rev8P5EAMTPhV0pkL8ht3fREfK_slS/s1600/IMG_7469.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhO2m5LcVjr8pFOCnsHldNywATOo08752ewqVEiXdHhialyhBU6KTnJDBFcV_ZTJB7-8iXSYoQWG_CNcHyDUoto48EKSUI8wVh6YFNtr9pIr49oe7rev8P5EAMTPhV0pkL8ht3fREfK_slS/s1600/IMG_7469.JPG" height="223" width="400" /></a></div>
I mean, everything is so colorful and in different places- my child's new toy chest. LOL!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRVHpCIjLbS9Ws0bG6PoG1brMazEnES0nJXl0lqZ8_2BCv5F0xL9unuCn7f-jEP8BBQnWRGLTTd_FsdRxg1RO_G1aLlObSJZfk8Iuyp5-HVae_C-Adn0nExDoJke-GH0EGc9X6WXFa8fj4/s1600/IMG_7470.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRVHpCIjLbS9Ws0bG6PoG1brMazEnES0nJXl0lqZ8_2BCv5F0xL9unuCn7f-jEP8BBQnWRGLTTd_FsdRxg1RO_G1aLlObSJZfk8Iuyp5-HVae_C-Adn0nExDoJke-GH0EGc9X6WXFa8fj4/s1600/IMG_7470.JPG" height="223" width="400" /></a></div>
I turned around the other day, after leaving the fridge open and didn't see her, then I looked again and realized.....yup, she had officially climbed in, that little monkey. If you look at the bottom left picture, you'll notice that yup, we store all our hottest condiments in the bottom of the fridge, probably because we use them so infrequently. Try not to judge my fridge too much, it's getting better. I mean you see those clementines in my bottom drawer right?!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
This is actually PC putting the items back into the fridge, much to her mother's delight. Maybe she watches me clean up after her waay too much and it just looked like so much fun that she HAD to try. Given this is like 1 of like 15 time she has been in the fridge, but, I think.....that she is learning....hopefully. <br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I have never consigned before, at least not to this extent. I've taken some of my things to the "higher end" consignment shops here in DC. My style just doesn't "fit" in with what they are looking for, nor do I feel that the prices are very "consigny" in my mind. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I've heard about these consignment events here in the DC metro area, but never partook. It just seemed like so much work. TRUTH!!! As a newbie to this, it was overwhelming to say the least. I had already collected PCs clothes I then had to use their online system to make labels. I had to say size, a description, brand, price. You could also select discount which would be half off at the Half Price Sale or donate. So I printed out all my tags, hung all my clothes, but didn't affix my tags to my clothes- Rookie mistake! Ugh....I went last night to drop off my items, moms were pulling up with minivans filled with trash bags of clothes- no lie.....people with huge storage containers and wagons full of clothes. WOW! I thought my laundry basket and large bag from Marshalls was pretty snazzy- FALSE! I also brought our extra baby swing, which after seeing the amount of swings feared it being sold. I ended up only tagging a few items because I was too overwhelmed and hadn't tagged a thing and thus was sitting on the floor as prepared mom after prepared mom went by me. Whomp Whomp! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
People even have their own clothes taggers- you know the ones that attach prices to clothes! Although I can see how it would save A LOT of time with safety pins. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Most of these big consignment sales are hosted by mothers of multiples, but as I do not have a multiple, I could still participate, which was nice. It also meant that there were a lot of double clothes too. Some were even rubber banded together. Don't break up the team! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
This picture is of the non clothes room- aka gymnasium. There were books, toys GALORE, swings, strollers, walkers, excersaucers, videos, more toys, baby gates, rockers, pack n' plays, I mean the list goes on..... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/11026149_10100109391371164_1595237393358321663_n.jpg?oh=b9377fdf2f099b60cafb6d1e68f3a554&oe=55841BAB" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://scontent-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/11026149_10100109391371164_1595237393358321663_n.jpg?oh=b9377fdf2f099b60cafb6d1e68f3a554&oe=55841BAB" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Some of the girls clothes, I mean there were racks on racks of baby girl clothes! But they are so organized. They've been doing this for awhile. Everything is run smoothly. You get an ikea bag to use for shopping- Totally normal- people hoarded, then sorted. Again, overwhelming!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, if you donate you get 30% of the sales, but if you volunteer 5 hours of your Saturday you get 70% of the sales. Win. You also get to shop at 8 am before the public. OOOHHHH! It's worth it! These moms mean business. I got there at 8:30 with my shift starting at 9:30. There were only like 4 swings left, mine was gone! WIN! I bought a few items, but I really didn't need much as PC is pretty well taken care of. However, I did do a little shopping at the half off sale. Here's a picture of my loot. She needs summery items. I tried not to go too crazy. The gray chevron dress actually has a C on it, very specific, but it works for PC. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
We also scored a few toys, not too many. PC likes to play with cars, although these aren't the ones I thought they were the ones that rev and then crash into each other, but they do make noise. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>

<div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I also scored a Britaxcarseat at half price - it was priced at 65$ I purchased for $32.50. I know I know, it's used and I'm being trusting. But I saved over $200 and it doesn't expire until April 2017, so we can get two years out of it. It is also rear and forward facing. I think it's the Britax pavilion in cowmooflage. Looks like this. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b><u>Tips that I learned:</u></b></div>
<div>
<b>1) I may need to start earlier than the day before I drop off items</b></div>
<div>
<b>2) Organize by size, makes drop off sooo much easier</b></div>
<div>
<b>3) Save all baby hangers!</b></div>
<div>
<b>4) Investing in a tagger may not be soo bad, if you intend on doing this more than once</b></div>
<div>
<b>5) Put shoes in ziplock bags, or use zip ties to keep them together</b></div>
<div>
<b>6) If you consign a lot, you also have to take back a lot if it doesn't sell</b></div>
<div>
<b>7) Toys are hit or miss</b></div>
<div>
<b>8) Furniture sells (swings, bouncy chairs, etc...)</b></div>
<div>
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
<b>The event I attended was the <a href="http://www.nvpom.com/consignment-and-vendor-fair/">Northern Virginia Parents of Multiples</a> - they have a spring and fall sale (I will be back!)</b></div>
<div>
<b>There is also the <a href="http://www.annapolismoms.org/sales.html">Annapolis Mothers of Multiples Sale</a></b></div>

<br />
So, last winter I planned on making pretzels each snow day, but then we didn't get very many and I also had a 4 month old, so it wasn't exactly practical. I decided this year we would try again, of course we've already had about 4 snow days, but better late than never. I am a big fan of traditions, so when PC is a little older hopefully she will enjoy this....and hopefully I will also be able to perfect them. I mean, who doesn't want to eat a fresh warm pretzel as they watch the snow come down? I mean other than gluten free people.....and since we aren't, bring on the white flour! LOL, actually the last time I made them I only had whole wheat flour and while they were good, I bet these will taste even more glutinous! I also didn't boil mine last time, you know like they do with bagels?<br />

I have to say that my dough just never seems to double in size, maybe that's why my pretzels always seem so dense and not light and airy. I still have to perfect this. If anyone has any suggestions. They say to put the dough in a warm place to rise, so I placed it on the stove. Maybe too warm?<br />

I will say, I enlisted my hubby to help with rolling out the dough- also they suggested breaking into 8 sections. I might do more so that the pretzels are not soo thick. Anyway, he ended up doing a fantastic job. The job is now his, until PC wants to help:-)<br />

We also decided that, being a snow day, why not also make a dipping sauce. We are not mustard people. So, the hubs whipped up a batch of beer cheese dip. If there are two things that we ALWAYS have it is beer and cheese. Although- I might add less beer, a little too boozy for me...haha- we also added a little hot sauce for some heat and some paprika to make it pretty. Hubby got the recipe here- it was real easy and he whipped it up super quick!<br />

So, this post is a little late in coming, but meatless Tuesday just doesn't sound the same. <br />
<br />
As part of our 21 day fix I have been trying to add variety to our meals, so why not make Chana Masala. I mean, I looove Indian food, plus I could just add all the ingredients to my wondrous crockpot! Best device ever, although I am saving up for a 7-1 Pressure Cooker, which does that, plus rice cooking and sautéing as part of the deal! WIN!<br />
<br />
To make it healthier, I made brown jasmine rice (in our rice cooker) and we bought some whole wheat naan from Trader Joes. I've actually made whole wheat naan before, I just didn't have the time this time. I got the recipe for my Chana Masala from <a href="http://www.5dollardinners.com/chana-masala-in-the-slow-cooker/#comments">here</a>.<br />
<br />
<b><u>Ingredients</u></b>:<br />
<ul style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; font-family: 'Open Sans', sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 24.375px; margin: 0px 0px 26px 40px; padding: 0px;">
<li dir="ltr" style="box-sizing: border-box; list-style-type: disc;">4 C. water ( I changed it to 3, based on comments, I still thought it seemed a little watery so I thickened it up*) </li>
<li dir="ltr" style="box-sizing: border-box; list-style-type: disc;">1 large onion, diced (I also sautéed this up first to break it down and then added it to the pot- actually about half way through)</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="box-sizing: border-box; list-style-type: disc;">1 28-oz. can diced tomatoes</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="box-sizing: border-box; list-style-type: disc;">1 6-oz. can tomato paste</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="box-sizing: border-box; list-style-type: disc;">â…“ C. chopped fresh cilantro leaves</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="box-sizing: border-box; list-style-type: disc;">2 tsp. garam masala</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="box-sizing: border-box; list-style-type: disc;">2 tsp. garlic powder</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="box-sizing: border-box; list-style-type: disc;">1 tsp. cumin</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="box-sizing: border-box; list-style-type: disc;">½ tsp. cayenne pepper (more if you like more of a kick)</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="box-sizing: border-box; list-style-type: disc;">1 tsp. ground coriander (I omitted because we didn't have it, but the garam masala had some in it already)</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="box-sizing: border-box; list-style-type: disc;">1 tsp. turmeric</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="box-sizing: border-box; list-style-type: disc;">1 tsp. sea salt</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="box-sizing: border-box; list-style-type: disc;">2 cans chickpeas (I added three because we love chickpeas and I just felt two didn't seem like enough, plus we wanted to have left overs. </li>
<li dir="ltr" style="box-sizing: border-box; list-style-type: disc;">Serve over Basmati Rice, or brown jasmine rice in our case</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="box-sizing: border-box; list-style-type: disc;">Cook from 6-8 hours ( I did 8, because I wanted to let it really soak up all the flavors)</li>
</ul>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Open Sans, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 24.375px;">*to thicken it I mixed 2 tbsp. corn starch with 2 tbsp. water</span></span></div>

Now, if it were the hubs he would be incapacitated lol. I will take more snuggles with her any day, even though it does mean she is under-the-weather. She apparently also is fighting off an ear infection. We would never have known if the doctor hadn't told us.....well maybe we would have it it had ruptured or something. She's a trooper that's for sure!<br />
<br />
PC had her 18 month appointment on Wednesday, complete with shots. Again, the lil trooper only had one little whimper. Good girl! Her stats: She is 19 lbs on the dot still in the 8th percentile, which is normal for where she's been on the chart and her height is 30 1/4 inches which places her in the 10%. No shocker as her father and I are NOT giants. <br />
<br />
So, with it being wintery/icy mix out today we stayed home from Church and didn't venture out into the city, for the sake of her, as well as road conditions. I haven't done too many toddlery activities with her, as her attention span isn't very long and she still tries to put most things in her mouth. However, with her dad at home, I decided to try and make some edible no-cook playdough. The less time it takes the better, as well as the fact that we had all the ingredients here in the house, otherwise we would have tried some other activities, but we don't have xantham gum or borax- guess I need to add that to our shopping list. <br />
<br />
I pulled out all the ingredients, vegetable oil, flour, salt, food coloring, cream of tartar. I got the recipe from <a href="http://pagingfunmums.com/2013/09/06/no-cook-playdough-recipe-made-in-5-minutes/">Pagingfunmums</a>. P.S. This recipe literally takes all of <span style="color: purple;"><b>5 minutes</b></span>! WIN!!!<br />
<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwlOrEyp1VRzVu8Klf0ibCpYEna3qUCvDgYLE1wpHLe423mVMmtf79hxEcRpSY3vw4fXKDAf9eSXtheIrUKwD9wjirIFV_8i1Xr7UqaiuNWY-27P7CyJcZ1sRtjhRaXKHTk6eDHKM-ZqZv/s1600/IMG_7818.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwlOrEyp1VRzVu8Klf0ibCpYEna3qUCvDgYLE1wpHLe423mVMmtf79hxEcRpSY3vw4fXKDAf9eSXtheIrUKwD9wjirIFV_8i1Xr7UqaiuNWY-27P7CyJcZ1sRtjhRaXKHTk6eDHKM-ZqZv/s1600/IMG_7818.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<b>Mix all the ingredients except boiling water and food coloring.</b><br />
1 cup of flour<br />
1/2 cup salt<br />
2 tbsp of cream of tartar<br />
1 tbsp of oil<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDofGSqGBUUtog0Dz-LIAgK2Q54j50EPUfQzmcsYg0kT_6MoA32edr_nyCNpQp0ZmZz355fclDA54VVQJE-u51ysqgLFAWEdTy8QPY9IfJdTMN0jdQwboyVsBDqqosxz5DFBRmt0aKdto0/s1600/IMG_7819.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDofGSqGBUUtog0Dz-LIAgK2Q54j50EPUfQzmcsYg0kT_6MoA32edr_nyCNpQp0ZmZz355fclDA54VVQJE-u51ysqgLFAWEdTy8QPY9IfJdTMN0jdQwboyVsBDqqosxz5DFBRmt0aKdto0/s1600/IMG_7819.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
Then add 1 cup boiling water- with the food coloring mixed in (I didn't add enough to make it bright. Maybe I need the neon food coloring.) Mix together<br />
<br />

We tried using a stool at the counter, but it didn't work and we were afraid she was going to fall off. I found toddler step stools online, but $200 no thanks!<br />

So, we put her in the highchair...I'm a little worried that she will start associating playing in the highchair and then start playing with her food, but this contained her, no fear of her falling and it's easy peasy to clean up!<br />

I originally gave her a fork to play with- disposable Great! However, after second thought I did take it away so she would not try and eat the dough (even though it is edible). Fork=eating in her mind<br />

Actually, in my mind, the latest snow here in the DC metro area was, meh. Let me say this though....it was beautiful and I LOVE watching it fall serenely and softly to the ground. There is something so peaceful about falling snow. Pre-daughter, the hubs and I would take walks in the snow, at any time of night (that is, if we had the next day off). Perhaps we need to invest in a longer range video monitor. <br />
<br />
Any way....we ended up with about 4 inches and a SNOW DAY! That's the best part. Because we are teachers it is even better. Perhaps the love of snow and snow days is due to the love my dad had for snow. <br />
<br />
The snow was so light weight that we could just use a broom to sweep it off the deck/porch/stairs. We have yet to invest in a real snow shovel, as we just don't get huge snow storms. I would totally eat my words if that means we'll get a <b><u>HUGE</u></b> storm, BOSTON HUGE! That might handicap the DC metro area for many days!<br />
<br />
PC had a blast in the snow, well as much as I could tell. She liked walking down the sidewalk and she liked brushing the snow off of the steps and the walls of other people's yards <i><span style="color: magenta;">(*sidenote: I need to get PC some legit winter mittens, waterproof ones, but I just haven't been able to find some for her lil PC paws, or good boots, but as she isn't doing too much walking in the snow, I guess they aren't necessary)</span></i><br />

She didn't really walk in the snow, she would stand there and when she would attempt to walk she would basically fall over. Kinda cute. We don't have a sled, so we couldn't even pull her through the snow, nor are there many hills here....<br />
She did love sledding when we visited my bestie and her daughter and hubby last weekend in Pittsburgh.<br />

I just picked up a used hiking backpack from a neighbor. <br />
<br />
But....originally I had 2 when PC was born. I had the Ergo and the Moby Wrap. Both of which I had researched and new that I wanted a few years before PC was even born. Call me a planner, or maybe a little crazy...but, it's what I do. <br />
<br />
I know some people say to wear your babies as much as possible, to hold them close, to keep that bonding time. Others say, if your baby is super fussy, wear them. If they are colicky, wear them. If they don't want you to put them down, wear them. You get the idea. I will agree, wearing your baby is a lot easier than carrying them around if you need to get household chores done. Thankfully for us PC was none of those. She didn't need to be held round the clock (although I could have if I wanted) and she wasn't sickly, other than jaundice and I wasn't allowed to hold her when she was on her special light anyway. She was completely content sleeping in her rock n' sleeper, so I figured, why disturb her. When I did need to wear her around the house though I would use our Moby. It pulled her close and was less bulky, well other than the fact that I felt like I was mummified with all the wrapping. One thing that I wish the Moby had was a pocket. In the summer/fall when PC was lil I would wear the Moby when I took the dogs out, worked up a sweat, but had no where to hold my phone or keys.<br />
Another negative with the Moby is it isn't practical when you go out, unless you already have it tied around you. If you don't, the long "tails" drag on the ground collecting all kinds of goodies. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgg_UIQkGzAaO5n4KpVB8VBvY8d8olzJuvE4iwuL0kZuiFSCp4U2lRm6I5Eup_jiVhT0lLfvpT7lUpIaFdQrWk9qTYf4WVCPczxqr0VWVVEFBzAp_Sjv8uMYZR6s1Tz4cy-BgVlnokAYZst/s640/blogger-image-854913461.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgg_UIQkGzAaO5n4KpVB8VBvY8d8olzJuvE4iwuL0kZuiFSCp4U2lRm6I5Eup_jiVhT0lLfvpT7lUpIaFdQrWk9qTYf4WVCPczxqr0VWVVEFBzAp_Sjv8uMYZR6s1Tz4cy-BgVlnokAYZst/s400/blogger-image-854913461.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
Oddly enough I still wil<br />
l randomly wear the Moby, especially if my husband takes the car with the Ergo. For short walks she's fine. She does move around a lot more though. Today I watched a video on how to do a hip hold with the Moby. I of course then had to try it out immediately, much to PC's dismay, but she seemed to like it. I think that this would be very convenient when doing a quick walk, or quick errand (via walking). As far as I can tell, this is not one that you can pre-do. I didn't wear it very long so I can't say how my back or hips would feel. I will say that she is 15 months old, but only weighs about 17 lbs. so that might make a huge difference versus another child. <br />
<br />
** Apparently I wrote this two months ago, whoops.... PC is now 17 months and I'm not quite sure how much she weighs....somewhere between 17-20lbs. I think she actually went through a growth spurt as I had some new pain in my one mommy arm- lefty is my dominant hold baby arm, even though I am a righty.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Does anyone have a favorite baby carrier? Do you use a sling? </span><br />
<br />
Maybe we will try an ergo360 for the next baby- I dunno, does having baby face outward throw you off balance at all? I make sure to eat right around her and give her balanced meals. I wanna make sure I don't say inappropriate things around her. They are sponges after all right? So of course I go to sit down tonight where? Yup the coffee table. Actually it's a very common place for me to sit ask the hubs. I will even sit cross legged up there. I know weird right?! So of course lil miss PC saw me tonight and this happened.<br />

<b><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">It's fall, which means time for some fall treats!</span></b></div>
<br />
With all the apples we picked at the Orchard the other week I figured I needed to do something with them, use them before they went bad. I had planned(still planning) on making applesauce because lil miss PC LOOOOVES her some applesauce! However, we still had a bunch, so enter..... apple crisp! MMMM....if only I had some homemade vanilla ice cream, actually any vanilla ice cream would have worked. I do wish that I hadn't put oatmeal on top, it was initially fine, but when it gets wet it gets that soggy oatmeal quality- Not.a.fan! I also wish I had sliced the apples thinner, I don't like crunchy apples in my apple crisp, or apple pie. However, that being said, we ate it all.....over the course of a few days ;-)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmC-NT3PXAHM_nIbgl2tgBK9HQSBrcDJ9FOLN_q-UcpnhvNfh-OJVJQmdHNlMPQcNjSWuPIxHtBPdN41g8mqhGeYJEVlglZ-LLCg7aYf4xLTZgBzKgaTspXdZbYP10fxcJooevowk2AWWD/s640/blogger-image-1012898737.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmC-NT3PXAHM_nIbgl2tgBK9HQSBrcDJ9FOLN_q-UcpnhvNfh-OJVJQmdHNlMPQcNjSWuPIxHtBPdN41g8mqhGeYJEVlglZ-LLCg7aYf4xLTZgBzKgaTspXdZbYP10fxcJooevowk2AWWD/s400/blogger-image-1012898737.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I also had to make a chicken pot pie. There is something very comforting about pot pie. I love eating a nice slice of warm pot pie on a brisk fall evening. I think it may even taste better in sweatpants and a sweatshirt, but maybe that's just me :-) </div>

<br />
<span style="color: purple; font-size: large;"><b>Here were some of our summer essentials:</b></span><br />
<br />
1)Re-useable swim diapers- originally I had planned on ordering some of the cute colored/designed ones, but realized that the white swim diapers are better because they pretty much match all the bathing suits<br />
This one is a the iplay diaper which I bought at Target, but you can get some super cute girl ones on Amazon <a href="http://www.amazon.com/play-Baby-Girls-Infant-Ultimate-X-Large/dp/B00CZ5007G/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1402102095&sr=8-2&keywords=iswim+diaper">here</a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBJBmyJ6fw5DRaRMNJZaKejnb25rUS1LREWRWcczbvox_JR7yIjfCdOTNB_g-3XWWB2GM_TipmwcAGt8ebJ8SpuHI_l7wJkdjtGmJj3KplktizhUHj-5vn-f4C5c_uvPnk491sFbBV8Q0L/s1600/photo+3+(30).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBJBmyJ6fw5DRaRMNJZaKejnb25rUS1LREWRWcczbvox_JR7yIjfCdOTNB_g-3XWWB2GM_TipmwcAGt8ebJ8SpuHI_l7wJkdjtGmJj3KplktizhUHj-5vn-f4C5c_uvPnk491sFbBV8Q0L/s1600/photo+3+(30).JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
The second swim diaper was ordered from <a href="http://www.target.com/p/charlie-banana-reusable-swim-diaper-training-pant-assorted-colors-sizes/-/A-14666196#prodSlot=medium_1_3&term=charlie+banana">Target, it is Charlie Banana brand,</a> PC is pretty small still so I got the small. What I like about this swim diaper is that there is a draw string inside so that if it's a little big you can tighten it up.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixOn_-tTm1hYS3gZDAa4-g95ZV2yrIplfjGsUCJsLpRiyhwW040oYm9GH-mJfoEga3XshilwCBaVKsXduqV5AMXBTAHdKec2GJe9BD8EeeB0PMjML2A2rX4tTyKkvE8_WarKsFjqVXTxZy/s1600/photo+4+(24).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixOn_-tTm1hYS3gZDAa4-g95ZV2yrIplfjGsUCJsLpRiyhwW040oYm9GH-mJfoEga3XshilwCBaVKsXduqV5AMXBTAHdKec2GJe9BD8EeeB0PMjML2A2rX4tTyKkvE8_WarKsFjqVXTxZy/s1600/photo+4+(24).JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
2)Cute sun hats(gotta shield the eyes, head, face and neck)- also a super cute Target purchase<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzAxtg66Vzo8miOdYGfwDN7KvNS1pvr9iUdow-2KMvL9z_CX95kQ-IzUqkKTmqtBOzPXbdyeKDGSdAe98OO96aHg-d3uXPr65-JoCr4emo-PC1lKmWU4OQRcEoCBCiH6tvLxbHscLhr48q/s1600/photo+1+(36).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzAxtg66Vzo8miOdYGfwDN7KvNS1pvr9iUdow-2KMvL9z_CX95kQ-IzUqkKTmqtBOzPXbdyeKDGSdAe98OO96aHg-d3uXPr65-JoCr4emo-PC1lKmWU4OQRcEoCBCiH6tvLxbHscLhr48q/s1600/photo+1+(36).JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
This pink polka dot one goes with her Old Navy bathing suit.<br />
<br />
3)Swim Hat(overboard??) I dunno I don't want her white hat to get all water stained, so why not invest in a hat made out of swim material? Purchased from Target, it is Speedo brand and has a UV50+ protection...gotta protect her cute lil cranium.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpBt-KuzKp0zukPH2gY4TNM7tq01XOsY2Ihyphenhyphenz5pq9EUXGy_DKRV3HsNPfT_2hIvB0PsPUy5RpAl-LyUXyUkH-lH08MX5nQRkKlsTvY5UDmOPMkoAOxI9D0_NciOhk8j_0UT-mAwm0lmgQi/s1600/photo+(21).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpBt-KuzKp0zukPH2gY4TNM7tq01XOsY2Ihyphenhyphenz5pq9EUXGy_DKRV3HsNPfT_2hIvB0PsPUy5RpAl-LyUXyUkH-lH08MX5nQRkKlsTvY5UDmOPMkoAOxI9D0_NciOhk8j_0UT-mAwm0lmgQi/s1600/photo+(21).JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>

<br />
4)Sunglasses(she's not the biggest fan of these) I'm a little worried she'll pull them back and snap them on her little face.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

5)Sunblock-I purchased Neutrogena pure & free baby SPF 60+<br />
<br />
6)Baby Pool- which I scored for FREE! BOOOYA!<br />

<br />
<br />
7) Swim Suit: I originally invested in a super cute pink polka dot one from Old Navy, but realized that a two piece makes more sense because PC will wear the swim diaper on the bottom and then just wear the top, that way it's a lot easier to change her<br />
I purchased this bathing suit from <a href="http://www.zulily.com/?ns=ns_702479732|1402102432084">Zulily</a>- a website I love. Such CUTE stuff! It's soo dangerous too, dangerous for the wallet- LOL<br />

<br />
8) I also invested in a long sleeve rash guard for PC- We used it a lot this summer! LOVE! Nothing like extra sun protection for precious baby skin</div>

The nice thing is there are lots of parks. However, sandboxes are not typically part of them, due to germs, bugs and animals. I've seen the turtle sandbox and it is super cute - I'm pretty sure once upon a time I even played in one, but again we just don't have the room. Not to mention that it gets real hot in the backyard and the dogs stink it up(yeah we could remedy that). There are also the relentless mosquitos too(I need a good solution!). A few weeks ago I did score a rejected sand/water table. It's missing a lot of parts including the lid to cover the sandbox part. But..... It was free. I can buy other play toys too and I'll try and DIY a cover for the sand part(will post a pic <strike>if </strike>when I am successful). It is small and fits nicely on the porch, I would love for her to play there, but the front mosquitos are worse than that backyard mosquitos(maybe we need bats). Thankfully cooler weather is upon us which hopefully means bye bye bugs.<br />
<div>
<b>This is what it should look like:</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.littletikes.com/content/ebiz/shop/invt/620317/620317_sandy-lagoon-waterpark_xalt7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://www.littletikes.com/content/ebiz/shop/invt/620317/620317_sandy-lagoon-waterpark_xalt7.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<b>This is what we actually have- haha</b></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

We do have an upper deck off the back master bedroom. It does get sun, but bug wise it's pretty good. So, I purchased a 50lb bag of sand and filled one of my under the bed containers. Perfect! It can sit on the back deck on our double beach towel and lil miss PC can play. If it's raining I can just cover it, pick it up(maybe) and carry it downstairs to the kitchen, or maybe it would be easier to drag it over to her room. So it's our indoor/ outdoor urban sandbox. </div>

Jury is still out whether she will like it or not. Today she touched it with a finger then eventually several fingers but didn't really get into it. Though her mouth may have sampled some- oops. While I'm not always keen on her putting EVERYTHING in her mouth, I know that I will also miss the day when she stops. It's the inquisitive baby/toddler nature- I still don't think of her as a toddler, she's not walking yet, still fits in 6 month clothes and still wears size 2 diapers. She's still my little baby.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">We had PURRRRFECT weather yesterday! I mean seriously....cool, sunny....ahhh can you smell it? Fall!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Last year lil miss PC was only about a month old when we went pumpkin picking. It also happened to be the hottest day in October. We were literally sweating through our fun. PC slept through the whole thing, didn't even make a peep. This year she was awake for the whole thing, but she still doesn't understand the concept of pumpkin and apple picking, but at least she had fun! Maybe next year she will be able to pick her own pumpkin out. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNAe_fsCTJjXOSrPWYqlitXBpViOa5I6S7LEVwRn62BvUX2YE6HHz8h9I2vhMmhOCYARMzq18osDzFF9ypR-O6_mBncmmBNao6mwKXjKrbLQUwdHYaegdCsfG4N0Qzynzfzi_T_njeO9Ym/s640/blogger-image-106587196.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNAe_fsCTJjXOSrPWYqlitXBpViOa5I6S7LEVwRn62BvUX2YE6HHz8h9I2vhMmhOCYARMzq18osDzFF9ypR-O6_mBncmmBNao6mwKXjKrbLQUwdHYaegdCsfG4N0Qzynzfzi_T_njeO9Ym/s640/blogger-image-106587196.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
And.... For the last three years we have gone with these wonderful friends. Hopefully sooner than later they will have a little friend for PC to hang with! ;-) Let me just say, hoisting a pumpkin up in front of your face is no easy task....I'm still waiting for my "mommy muscles" to come in! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
And of course... Apple picking. Hoping to make apple crisp and applesauce maybe even apple butter! Too bad there were so many ground apples. But at least we found a few! </div>

So the hubs and I celebrated 8 years of marriage the other week, June 24th to be exact. Amazingly it has taken me one whole week to post about it. You'd think I would have TONS of time, this being the summer and not working and all. I have no excuses really. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We decided to introduce PC to a local "beach." In a couple of weeks we will be spending a whole week at the beach...of course this will be a whole new experience and probably not as relaxing as we are used to. But....it will be another memory to add to the books, so for that I am definitely excited! PC had her first experience of a "wave." As well as her first taste of sand - blech! I'm hoping that the sand was a negative experience. </div>

G made homemade gnocchi with a brown butter sage sauce and grilled asparagus! <b style="background-color: yellow;">DELISH</b>!</div>

<span style="font-size: large;">Fresh strawberries- shoulda made homemade whipped cream, next time! </span></div>
<br />
<b><span style="font-size: large;">Creme Brûlée for Two!</span></b><br />
1 cup of heavy whipping cream<br />
1/4 cup white sugar<br />
2 egg yolks<br />
1/2 vanilla bean<br />
<br />
1) Mix white sugar and egg yolks with whisk until light yellow and creamy<br />
2) bring heavy whipping cream and vanilla bean to a slow boil<br />
3) Add the cream a little at a time stirring continually<br />
4) Pour mixture into two ramekins<br />
5) Place ramekin in a large cake pan, or I used my pyrex casserole dish- pour hot water all around until the water comes up half way<br />
5) Bake @ 325 F degrees for 40-45 minutes until creme brûlée is set, but still trembly in the middle<br />
6) Place in fridge to set 2-3 hours, or overnight<br />
7) Remove from fridge add white sugar to the top spread evenly (I kind of shake the dish around-let sit out for 20 minutes)<br />
8) Broil the creme brulee @ 500 degrees F for 1 1/2- 2 minutes- monitor to avoid burning<br />
<br />

It kinda scared her because it was so high but mama was there to catch her if she fell. <div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQ5nD_2HUTJdLRWlYP85rj0fLWRmDjxy8VOD3ATwzc2X8hPJH8l_6L0Ux68jfncBFLNHhFhgMuki1TKplprItCTfeJrP7pwXvOqaM_sIkLmjrmeS_3jHbiiupD7TGhh64clFR83SfSIv9v/s640/blogger-image--71871747.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQ5nD_2HUTJdLRWlYP85rj0fLWRmDjxy8VOD3ATwzc2X8hPJH8l_6L0Ux68jfncBFLNHhFhgMuki1TKplprItCTfeJrP7pwXvOqaM_sIkLmjrmeS_3jHbiiupD7TGhh64clFR83SfSIv9v/s640/blogger-image--71871747.jpg"></a>My coffee table will now stay really clean because the little miss can reach everything!</div></div>Christyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13011702263743197943noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7155192392822283459.post-2772667467092985912014-06-12T18:07:00.001-07:002014-06-12T18:07:45.447-07:00And.....she's on the move!Well, PC officially began her four legged adventures a few weeks ago. She originally started with the army crawl, using her arms to move around and kind of dragging her legs behind her. But now! All the things on the floor have had to be picked up....I mean I'm already kind of a clean freak, so now it just requires extra tiding.<br />
<br />
We don't really have a storage place for her toys, well I do have some places in mind, but she can't really access them yet. So....I just store all her toys under her exersaucer. I mean they are out of the way and within reach for the little Miss. Win Win right?!<br />
<br />
Well, now that she's mobile she can just crawl right over and grab what she wants......or....you can do this....... <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWgJb1WL6RO2pRuuCoaEeKmwbhfr5eHedH0JKhIrBLFTwG5wwvOE3zLAcbT_JDCTGuuRFqQqeL-mJNCGSiDYkBeokD4ouSeBopnphor0R8WUMY6BzlTv-hJ8iQBq1rqDRV-EyGofqiemuW/s1600/photo+1+(37).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWgJb1WL6RO2pRuuCoaEeKmwbhfr5eHedH0JKhIrBLFTwG5wwvOE3zLAcbT_JDCTGuuRFqQqeL-mJNCGSiDYkBeokD4ouSeBopnphor0R8WUMY6BzlTv-hJ8iQBq1rqDRV-EyGofqiemuW/s1600/photo+1+(37).JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">But, then this happened............</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUEGVeE7GBA5V_uPxLXThdKW2wQRNcIRj74RgPPK-udKNwtCr9DtBmPmFpDcoiiEoYgsB0el0-Xsk-AhyhLXMtf87hDatIQJMMg3CwbC6PhLOejaBiPxtAwPwrIzbhBHf6d761yrbmPlIG/s1600/photo+2+%252835%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUEGVeE7GBA5V_uPxLXThdKW2wQRNcIRj74RgPPK-udKNwtCr9DtBmPmFpDcoiiEoYgsB0el0-Xsk-AhyhLXMtf87hDatIQJMMg3CwbC6PhLOejaBiPxtAwPwrIzbhBHf6d761yrbmPlIG/s1600/photo+2+%252835%2529.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
She can get under there no problem....but that's where the adventure stops.....do you like how my child is crying, but I have to snap a picture....don't wanna miss a sad/happy/excited/frustrated/angry moment EVER! Thank goodness for camera phones!Christyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13011702263743197943noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7155192392822283459.post-2570733617788753052014-06-09T16:27:00.000-07:002014-06-09T16:27:32.646-07:00Tis the season for baking(no, it's not Christmas)So....I baked about 5 dozen cupcakes the other night. Two types, red velvet with a cream cheese frosting and snickerdoodle with a fluffy vanilla frosting. <br />
<br />
I did NOT use a box(not that there is anything wrong with that). Boxed cakes are great too, really easy to make, less time consuming and usually very moist. That's the kicker. I'm not a fan of dry cake!<br />
<br />
I also made the icing from scratch- usually if I do end up using a box then I will make the icing from scratch. But....being the overachiever on Monday, I did it all up! Gotta celebrate special co-workers :-)<br />

My Martha Stewart Cupcake Cookbook and I are besties!<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
I've learned that cracking the eggs into a bowl and then adding them one at a time(as directed) is easier than cracking them on the side(makes more dishes, but prevents any eggshells from getting in the mix).</div>
